About Me

Background

Hello, fellow anglers. Welcome to my fishing page. My name is Tomas, aka Stray Caster. I was born in Orange and raised in Orange County. I was introduced to fishing at a young age. I remember my grandfather, father, and uncles dragging out my cousins and siblings to go fishing with them back in the early 90s. Some say I am a baby, and others that I am past my time. =) Nonetheless, we used to go out with minimal gear: some 20-30 lb mono line wrapped around sticks, empty beer cans, etc., and we would fish for carp, catfish, and occasionally some bass. We had no idea what we were doing, but we caught fish and lots of it. Fast forward to my current state of mind and situation based on good decisions in life, I tended to revert to what made me happy as a child, and it was fishing. Hence, now I like to fish in my current county in which I reside, Kern County. An abundance of lakes, Kern River, a couple of hours away from the National Forests and the beach. This area sparked my interest and reignited my passion for fishing. Now I like to travel wherever I can and cast in any pond, river, lake, or ocean. I stray to where I can fulfill my need to get away from it all and fish reel hard.

About My Blog

How do we keep it reel?

As I mentioned earlier in my bio, fishing with my family we used basics to catch carp, catfish, and on a good day a fish we were not expecting to catch. Gear we will use did not include a rod, but it did consist of line, hooks, corn, dough, tortillas, and worms. When I first began to fish for more game fish like bass, that is when I realized how clueless I was to fishing different types of fish and different lures, hooks, jigs, rods, line, etc. Therefore, I am deciding to use this page and blog to inform the general public, beginner anglers, and hopefully experienced anglers on new things. Furthermore, I am here to share my experiences of other hobbies I enjoy such as hiking, traveling and other outdoor activities to help assist you on your next trip. Cheers!!!
